Savitribai Phule Pune University (previously known as University of Pune is one of the largest and among the oldest institutions of higher learning in modern India. Established in 1949, the University has indeed come a long way since its inception – it has received A+ accreditation with 3.60 CGPA from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, (NAAC), India. It is ranked 10^th among Indian Universities as per NIRF ranking and 2^nd among Indian Universities as per Times Higher Education (THE) ranking. In addition, the University Grants Commission, (UGC), has been supporting Savitribai Phule Pune University as one of the Universities in India, with potential for excellence. It has been identified under Department of Science and Technology’s PURSE (Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence) programme and Ministry of Human Resource Development’s RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) programme. What is even more prestigious is our international acclaim—Savitribai Phule Pune University has enrolled more than half of all the international students in India, from more than 71 countries. A recent survey by the Association of Indian Universities shows that Savitribai Phule Pune University is the number one—the most preferred destination for international students coming to India.

Apart from academic assessment and focusing on training the trainers, Savitribai Phule Pune University is a strong proponent of linking the academia with the professional community. Over the last decade, we have kept abreast with technological advances by developing very strong ties with the industry. One such example is the attachment of Integrated Circuit and Information Technology Pvt. Ltd., (ICIT), with the Department of Electronic Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University. Value added Post Graduate Certificate and Diploma courses are now being conducted, where our students can professionally implement the courses and get hands-on experience at ICIT, in a real time technology scenario.

In the last fifteen years, since the inception of these courses, over 6300 students have successfully graduated, benefitting from ICIT’s state of the art classrooms, well equipped laboratory and library. The University’s assessment and audit programme approves the courses, their content, and syllabi; closely monitors its administration; and conducts examinations and assessment, awarding Savitribai Phule Pune University Certificates or Diploma to successful students.
